FAREWELL

Dear Students,

We have come to the end of the semester and this is to farewell you. I would like to wish you the best in all your undertakings in the future. I hope you have enjoyed the class and the class blog. I must say that I am very happy you have learnt about blogging so quickly - I was just lucky to teach a group of
intelligent bloggers in my class. Once you leave the class you can still have access to the class blog and all the material and links provided for you. You are very welcome to keep your student blogs active if you wish.

NEWSPAPER STORIES

Local, national and global news are covered by the newspapers. People want to know what is happening around them - in their community, in their city, country or in the world.
We are going to read different news stories and analyse them:
  • finding the main idea
  • vocabulary
  • discussing the problems
  • giving opinions
TASK: Click on the icon on the top right and choose one news story (the teacher might suggest one).

Dear John,

I would like to inform you about the ‘To do list’ you have given me before leaving on a business trip.
I have phoned the suppliers about our credit period and we’ve got an extension of 30 days. Then I’ve booked a room at International (the Hilton was not available) for our Japanese guests and have also got an offer for the buffet lunch. It’s 50 euros per person. Is that OK? I’ve also checked your parking permit and they told me you could leave your car till the end of the week. I’ve organised suitable times for in-company language training.
I must apologise I haven’t corrected your overheads for Thursday presentation as I have been very busy at work but I have left a message for Jeff to cancel the golf morning on Friday. I will try again as he hasn’t responded yet.
Finally, I’ve asked Tessa to call you next Tuesday regarding travel expenses.
I hope you will be satisfied with the things I have organised.

Kind regards,

Reham
